It’s officially spring in the northern hemisphere! Flowers and rain and baby animals are just around the corner. And with the warmer weather coming in fast (mildly terrifying, but here we are), the spring vibes are abundant.
There’s something fresh in the air, something quintessentially SPRING. And while winter is my favourite season, I’m certainly welcoming the shift.
Why not use that shift to inspire your writing? I’ve listed fifteen spring-themed writing prompts below for you to check out. Whether you write poetry or children’s picture books – or something else entirely! – I hope these ideas provide a creative springboard 😊 (No pun intended, but very much welcomed.)
- Blossoming flowers/a field of flowers
- Warmer days
- Grass creeping in through melting snow
- Birdsong
- Budding leaves
- Fresh air (consider playing with both touch and scent here!)
- Newborn animals
- Puddles – from rain and/or melting snow
- First spring storm
- Ice melting away from rivers/lakes/ponds
- Bright sunshine
- Playing/dancing in the rain
- Changing over your wardrobe
- Sense of renewal
- Movement you associate with spring (the word or the season)
I’d love to know if any of these inspire you! If they do, and you come into the market for an editor, reach out for a quote!
Missing winter? In the southern hemisphere? I’ve got Winter Writing Prompts and Fall Writing Prompts, too! Summer prompts coming in June.
