Hey, folks!

It’s summer in the northern hemisphere! (I know, I’m a few days late to the game.)

To round out our seasonal writing prompt collection, may I present 15 writing prompts for this hot season. It’s been sweltering lately, so stay safe, friends! Maybe take the time to sit indoors and work on some poetry or picture books 😉 And if you’re in wintertime, might as well hunker down with a cozy sweater while you write.

(You can find the other posts in the seasonal prompts collection here: Spring, Fall, and for you southern hemispherers, Winter.)

1) Going swimming
2) Outdoor sporting matches (playing or watching)
3) Heat waves (what to do in them, how you feel in one, the visual of hot pavement)
4) The feel of cool breezes on hot, sunny days
5) The Sun itself!
6) Summer vacation (whether from school or work, staycations or travelling)
7) First trip abroad
8) Family/friend picnics
9) The sound of crickets in the evening
10) The taste/feel/nostalgia of ice cream (or other summer treats!)
11) Garage sales (holding or shopping)
12) Camping under the stars
13) Summer traditions in your household/culture/country
14) Driving with the windows down
15) The concept of melting (physical things, the metaphorical sensation, etc.)

Hopefully one (or more!) of these provide you with some inspiration, whether directly or indirectly. If they do, I’d love to hear about it!
